The technology obviously exists to enable each cable TV subscriber to choose a specific set of channels. Clearly, some channels might cost more than others.
It is time for a free market approach:
1] If there are multiple channels addressing a particular market segment (sports, news, natural phenomena, shopping, whatever), then those channels should compete on price.
2] If no one chooses to watch a particular channel, then that channel should perish.
3] If one channel is more popular than other channels, then that channel should prosper.
