    • Report of a recent event

Per dictionary.com, the definition of news is a "Report of a recent event. That to me means a plane crash in Virginia, a tornado in Texas, or an earthquake in Japan.

Opinions are not news, they are the beliefs of an individual or group. The networks have confused the two. I have no problem with either one but they must be defined and controlled separately by stating what it is up front as news or opinion.

      • Give the people what they need, not what they want.

The media companies should take up the responsibility of giving audiences/viewers the news and information they need rather than the arts and entertainment updates they want. The media companies should take it upon themselves to show the hard stories, to uncover scandal and corruption, and to give the audiences information that is relevant to their lives. The media is a reflection of the society we live in and from the past decades it has become blatantly obvious that people only care to take in the information they want rather than the information they truly need to become a well educated…

        • Media Monopolies

Should our media be concentrated in the hands of the few or should they be broken up?
Early in the 20th century our government went after corporations who owned too much of their fields, whether it was oil or steel. Should the FCC do the same with media companies who are acquiring too many channels, programming, etc?
Do you think there is any danger in a single company owning a large percentage of media channels?

          • HLN is a travesty to justice with their coverage of trials..Their coverage tainted the jury of the Jodi Arias case in Phoenix AZ. T

HLN should be fined and NEVER allowed to cover a trial again ever. Their coverage is a miscarriage of justice in the worst way. HLN has created a HATE GROUP against Jodi Arias and her entire defense team, and even professional witnesses.
