Ala carte cable TV

Cable TV pricing has got completely out of hand. My provider just raise their rates again claiming the higher price of rebroadcasting services over cable. Their packages and bundles do little to curb the prices paid by their subscribers, plus their reaping the benefit of advertising dollars as well as subscription fees. A number of years ago, the FCC said cable/satellite providers "could" offer ala carte pricing. That is, you pay for what you actually use. In order to get the few channels I actually watch (about 15 of them)I have to subscribe to over 200. I would gladly pay $3 per month per channel for the ones I watch instead of over $100/month for 185 that I don't. I see the scheme working as such: You watch a movie on TCM, you just bought that channel for that billing month. You won't pay for TCM in the months where you don't watch it. Maybe then the cable providers would give us pricing and packaging we can afford.
