New Orleans and locally owned stations
It used to be that locally owned stations in New Orleans would play locally produced music. A lot of R&B and rock and roll music became classics because of this practice. Now with the out of town corporations owning local radio it's next to impossible for local artists to get airtime.
With talk radio here we have WRNO, a great station that airs Rush, Hannity and Levin along with a couple locally produced shows, even the Jesus Christ show. They have a Nascar show which I don't care for but is obviously popular.
