The FCC must demand truth in the news.
The FCC needs to protect the public from biased and false news.
Because the media is owned by corporations, they are going to do whatever it takes to improve profits. That means sensationalizing the news and driving public discussion toward topics they can create, simply for ratings.
Corporations are bound by law to do everything possible to make a profit for their shareholders. Flatly stating the truth does nothing to improve ratings, and in the competitive business environment of entertainment, they will sacrifice the public good and the country's good for the good of their bottom line.
We had this years ago, and somehow it has gone away. The airwaves and street easements are owned by the public and leased by these corporations. We have every right to demand the truth in news.
