The local news here focuses too much on the bad things in the community rather than the good. And their reporting of these instances, such as crime, is so sensationalized to the point that people are scared to go outside, when statistically, if the crimes are compared to the size of the population, it's not at all as bad as they make it seem. And when there's bad weather near here, they have that super-imposed screen that runs the same information for hours sometimes. If there's a program on that you want to view, and it's in HD, their displays knock the program back down to standard definition. In this day and age there are so many sources to acquire weather information, that these antiquated methods are totally un-necessary. And they do the same thing during elections, from the time from about an hour before the polls close until after the late news has gone off. In other words, "over-kill" is how I'd describe local news stations in Memphis.
