Campaign Reform

To build a multi-party democracy from the grassroots, we'd like to require broadcast media, including cable TV, to provide free and equal airtime to each candidate who qualifies by collecting signatures from at least 1% of local voters. If any candidate purchases airtime, every qualified candidate for the same office receives equal time without charge.

We need a return of the Fairness Doctrine that we stopped enforcing in the 1980's. This has led to our news content being limited to what has entertainment value and more opinion than fact. We do not see real journalism regarding issues of public importance and the public's right to know when it runs contrary to the corporation's interest as owner of the network. They should not be allowed to censor information or lie about something.
